AIS is a more detailed successor to Form 26AS, covering a much broader range of your financial activity.
Form 26AS mainly shows TDS/TCS and tax payments. AIS goes further โ it includes savings account interest, dividend income, mutual fund and securities transactions, foreign remittances, GST turnover (if applicable), and more, all pulled from third-party reporting.
Log in to the Income Tax e-filing portal โ Services โ Annual Information Statement (AIS). You'll see two views: AIS (all reported information) and TIS (Taxpayer Information Summary, a simplified processed version used to pre-fill your ITR).
AIS has a built-in feedback mechanism โ you can mark an entry as "Information is incorrect," "Not fully relates to you," "Duplicate," etc. This doesn't change the record on the reporting entity's end but flags your disagreement for the department's reference.
Compare interest income against the TDS threshold before checking your AIS.
Use the TDS Calculator โAlways cross-check both AIS and Form 26AS before filing โ they can occasionally show different figures for the same transaction.
